Ukulele Day 10 Back Lining

Result from our last day, finished the top assembly.

Remove and trim the top edge.

The total thickness of ukulele is 60mm at heel block.
Thus, the inside thickness is 60mm - top_thickness - back_thickness
= 60-1.5-2.0= 56.5mm.

The total thickness of ukulele is 65mm at end block.
Thus, the inside thickness is 65mm - top_thickness - back_thickness
= 65-1.5-2.0= 61.5mm.

The, we remove the wasted area with chisel.

or by japanese hand saw

Outline the heel block on outside edge

and sand this back curve with sandpaper, on the sphere template.

Use hot glue to seal the heel block with top. It must 100% seal. Otherwise, the top may vibrate with this heel block.

Here shows our sanding 15 degree sphere

Finally, we glue our back lining.
