Ukulele Day 01 Material Preparation

Day 1 we start with a mahogany lumber from Bangpo. This piece must be quarter saw only due to its strength for guitar top, back and side. We've got 5.5" width, 1.5" thickness.

Then we draft our Ukulele-Soprano template.

We then cut it into a required length and use 14" block plane from Dhammasak machinery.
This piece is prepared for ukulele's side.

This piece is prepared for ukulele's top, back.

We, then, use band saw to resaw it into 4 pieces of 10mm.
Note that this is our first ukulele, so we spare the thickness at 10mm which we actually use only 1.5mm for each top, back piece.

We use block plane to adjust the thickness into 4mm.

Here is the outcome of our today's work. The small pieces of cow bone were cleaned by my border collie, Solar. We're gonna use these pieces for saddle and nut.
